Chinese Pastor (Cantonese)

Job description

Grace Christian Chapel, a Cantonese-speaking Church located in Vancouver (Canada), is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pastor to lead our congregation. With the retirement of Reverend Stephen S. F. Lee, we aim to revitalize our church, extend pastoral care to existing members, and engage in proactive outreach to expand our community.

This is a full-time position requiring a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week. The Pastor will be responsible for preaching and leading Sunday services, providing consistent pastoral care to current members, overseeing existing programs, and actively participating in outreach initiatives to foster church growth.

Major Responsibilities

1. Deliver engaging and meaningful sermons
2. Lead Sunday services by providing spiritual guidance rooted in Scripture
3. Offer regular pastoral care and support to the existing congregation, fostering a nurturing and supportive community environment
4. Oversee and maintain existing programs such as praise dance and ping pong, ensuring their alignment with the church's vision
5. Initiate and lead outreach efforts to attract new members, engaging with the wider community to foster church growth

Qualifications

• Demonstrates godly characteristics in line with 1 Timothy 3
• Holds a Master of Divinity degree or equivalent
• Proficient in Cantonese, enabling effective communication within the congregation
• Possesses the ability to work empathetically and effectively with seniors
• Experience in outreach and rebuilding a congregation
• Minimum of 5 years of ministry experience within a Cantonese-speaking church

Compensation

The annual salary for this position is $75,000, inclusive of all benefits. Please note that medical insurance is not provided as part of this compensation package.
