Job Description

Mission

CIMA+ is working with Telcos, smaller providers, utilities, solar farms, municipalities, and industry in the design of fiber optic networks. These networks range in complexity from simple point to point installation to complex, city-wide, Fibre-to-the-Home projects. The Technologist will drive fibre optic design projects and bring them to conclusion. Place of work will be the CIMA+ Quebec, Sherbrooke or Laval offices. 

Primary Responsibilities 

• Responsible for the design delivery of FTTH networks  
• Perform QA/QC on FTTH design to ensure feasibility  
• Design of detailed engineering plans for fibre optic networks routes for aerial and underground routes using ArcGIS tools  
• Determine Make-Ready work required on poles  
• Prepare joint-use permit application for installation of fiber optic cables on power poles  
• Perform QA/QC on permit applications and IFC drawings prior to submission  
• Develop procedures and methodologies to increase production efficiency  
• Perform Pole Loading Calculations  
• May Perform Field surveys (exceptional cases)  
• Work as a team with other disciplines (i.e., Electrical, Civil,)  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Technical College Degree in Engineering or similar  
• Minimum of 5 years of experience delivering underground and overhead fiber optic infrastructure designs (FTTH experience)  
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and ArcGIS software  
• Knowledge LCDs and ISPs design standards and norms  
• Priority management, resourcefulness, professionalism, organization skills, rigor, and attention to detail   
• Knowledge of SPIDACalc is an asset 
• Knowledge of AHSIP, IO Broadband programs an asset
