About the Company
Our client is a leading competitor in the utilities industry. They are currently looking for a Senior Tax Manager who will be primarily responsible for income tax reporting, short and long term tax planning and tax modeling, tax compliance, corporate tax accounting, commodity taxes and tax audits. Together with Director, International Tax, the Senior Tax Manager will support the management of international tax issues impacting the business, including mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiations, regulatory matters, and all strategic cross border tax planning issues.

About the Opportunity
Support preparation and review U.S. GAAP quarterly and annual income tax provisions and effective tax rate reconciliations for the Consolidated group to support public reporting and stand-alone financial statement requirements.
Support preparation and review of both Canadian and certain U.S. income tax and information returns.
Support Director, International Tax with tax due diligence, tax modelling and tax structuring advice. Engage and manage external advisors as needed.
Assist with tax planning and reorganization projects, including research and coordination with advisors and internal stakeholders.
Oversight over the calculation of basis, surplus, safe income, and FAPI of the Company's international investments.
Review cash tax and effective rate forecasts to support the Company's budgeting and long term modeling requirements.
Manage Canadian income tax audits, prepare and review responses to queries, and review assessments.
Develop and maintain high levels of employee engagement and teamwork where employees are disciplined in processes and work collaboratively towards the achievement of personal, departmental and business goals and initiatives.
About You
CPA, CA
Extensive experience in preparing/reviewing complex tax provisions in a US GAAP environment
Prior experience with M&A related tax structuring
Past experience to include one of the big 4 firms
Proficient in the use of MS office products; SAP or similar; Power Plan and Power Tax exposure preferred; Hyperion smart-view preferred
Salary Range
$150,000 - $160,000/year
