We are currently seeking candidates for the role of Contract Specialist to join our Corporate Procurement team at J. D. Irving group of companies based in Dieppe, NB. We are looking for a self-motivated professional that enjoys problem solving, collaborating with others and has an aptitude for contracts and process improvement

What To Expect in a Typical Day
As a Contract Specialist, some of the things to expect on a day-to-day basis:
- Manage the contract lifecycle from creation through signature, record management, and compliance.
- Advise procurement professionals and senior leaders on the contract management process, terms and conditions to look for, and best practices in the industry.
- Opportunities to challenge yourself daily by making improvements to a process that impacts all of our companies.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Execute and support all aspects of the contract life cycle management process for procurement (supplier) contracts from contract creation / drafting, negotiation, administration / record management, and compliance tracking / audit through contract renewal or termination.
- Review, assist in drafting, editing, and negotiating contractual terms and conditions directly with internal customers and suppliers, while addressing areas of legal risk, liaising with vendor’s counsel as required. Lead, advocate and facilitate successful execution process of contracts.
- Assist procurement and other industry professionals, internal clients, and other stakeholders at all levels regarding contract terms and conditions, including, resolving complex contractual and business issues, while ensuring consistently high quality and accuracy of contract documentation.
- Partner with Legal on contract reviews, approvals, and workload assignments of contracts. Prioritize and finalize with accuracy and attention to detail all contract documentation. Work with Legal on the delivery of legal training and deployment of best practices, tools, and templates across the procurement organization.
Job Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in law, supply chain, procurement, and/or paralegal studies preferred.
- Strong grasp of contract management administration and legal principles and language.
- Strong understanding of the individual businesses and their needs.
- Strong relationship building and collaboration skills
- Process improvement and reporting skills preferred.
- Experience using contract workflow and repository software (e.g. Jaggaer) preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Results oriented with a strong attention to detail.
- Able to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, and achieve targets.
