Position: Civil Foreperson - Utilities
Location: Lower Mainland, BC
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
The wage range for this role (depending on experience): $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
Overview
Complete Utility Contractors is a lower mainland based and highly experienced civil/utility company. We are actively seeking career minded individuals that wish to continually grow and develop within our organization. We are currently looking to fill a Foreperson position which is critical to executing on our committed project workload for 2024.
What you will be doing
- Leads the installation of new underground utility infrastructure such as water, sewer, hydro and telecom.
- Supervises, leads, and provides clear direction to crews on site for daily execution on work tasks and overall project targets and goals - safety, quality, and production.
- Responsible for site safety, participates in daily toolbox talks and prepares a work plan and hazard analysis for each task and reviews with the Superintendent and crew prior to the start of work being performed.
- Ensures strong job pre-planning/planning, site organization and cleanliness, equipment/tools and materials management and drives productivity and efficiency.
- Maintains good employee morale, communication, and teamwork.
- Provides leadership and aids in training and mentorship of junior employees.
- Provides feedback to supervisors and management on delays, equipment damage or failures and process improvements.
- Identifies problems or issues early and provides adequate and independent solutions and input.
What we are looking for
- 5+ years experience is required in civil utility construction.
- Strong safety record with thorough understanding of occupational hazards and safe working procedures with live utilities and sloped terrain.
- Live utility locating experience.
- Expertise with trenching, shoring, trench box assembly and safe excavation procedures.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and oral and strong experience completing field/site paperwork and timesheets.
- Understands pipe gradients, pipe materials and specifications, fitting and assembly, proper bedding, protection of other services and methods of backfill and compaction.
- Ability to work collaboratively with everyone including customers, operation and project managers, internal crews, and subcontractors.
- Have proficient knowledge of MMCD and OH&S regulations and knowledge of construction disciplines (knowledge of materials and methods required)
- Attention to safety, quality, and production.
- Strong job planning/organizational (site and documentation), time management skills and stewardship of all equipment and tools.
