GAL Aviation Inc. is a Start to Finish manufacturer of aircraft interior cabinets and components and light aerostructures for Aviation Projects & Programs for Commercial & Business Aircraft OEMs & In Service Clients we offer, Designing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Testing, Certification, Installation, and Support services. GAL is a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO 27 12) with 561 and 573 approval, AS9100 Rev C Certification, EASA 145 Certification and FAA authority. We offer maintenance, refurbishment, repairs and modifications of aircraft interior components for in service Transport Category Aircraft.
We are looking for a Director of Operations (Manufacturing). This position reports to the General Manager.
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Operations with a strong background in manufacturing to join our team. The Director of Operations will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing our manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety are upheld to the highest standards. This position requires strategic thinking, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for driving operational excellence.
The main responsibilities of the role are:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of day to day manufacturing operations, including production planning, scheduling, inventory management, and quality control.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
- Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability targets are consistently met or exceeded.
- Work in concert with program management, engineering, supply chain and other cross functional team to ensure delivery time are respected and on track.
- Establish human resource requirement and support the hiring process.
- Manage production human resources to ensure proper functionality of the manufacturing process.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices, lean methodologies, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure alignment of manufacturing goals with company objectives.
- Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate operational performance, making data driven decisions to drive improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
- Lead and mentor a team of managers and supervisors, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.
Required Qualifications:
- BSc/BA diploma in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field ; MSc/MA is a plus.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record as a successful Director of Operations.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of current program management methods and best practices.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience with industry-standard project management software and tools.
- Excellent Knowledge of data analysis, reporting skills, performance evaluation techniques and key metrics.
- A business acumen with a strategic ability.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- An analytical mindset with great problem-solving abilities.
