Internship Placement for Summer 2024 Term

Salary: $17.00/hour
Hours per week: 36.25
Placement Duration: May – August 2024
Department : Environment and Local Government (ELG) / Waste Diversion Branch
Placement Description : Are you passionate about making positive changes to our environment? The Waste Diversion Branch of the Department of Environment and Local Government is looking for a motivated individual to help effect positive changes to how our province diverts waste from our landfills to be reused, recycled, composted, and more. You will assist the branch with developing new or expanding existing waste diversion programs, including meeting with stakeholders, researching possibilities for improvement, carrying out an inventory of organic waste diversion programs in NB and analyzing retrieved data related to solid waste management. You will also assist with developing content for educational materials to raise awareness and elicit behavioural change province-wide. You will also assist the Authorizations Branch with audits, template development, and data entry for various industrial sectors and help develop various documents for the remediation program.
Qualifications:
Skills/Highlights : The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, as well as written and oral communication skills with an ability to communicate technical information. Experience in project management is considered an asset as you will be involved in multiple working groups throughout your placement and will be involved in various project phases. You should be well organized and be able to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Teams is considered an asset.
