Job description

The Design Architects will be required to provide full Architectural design services for transit related facilities. This involves:

• Directing and checking the work of Technologist, Design Draftspersons, and any other support staff assigned.

• Gathering information in both field and office.

• Preparing code compliance review related to new and existing facilities.

• Developing technical design reports, including schematic and preliminary designs.

• Managing design work according to approved work plans.

• Developing and preparing full contract documentation, acting as design lead where assigned.

• Checking and signing documentation where appropriate, and where required.

• Performing site reviews, and submitting reports as required by permit and code.

• Providing construction support, including review of shop drawings and contract
submittals.

• Conducting regular field reviews, preparing deficiency reports.

• Coordinating the preparation and justification for anticipated contract changes.

• Providing support to Operations as required and as assigned.

• Providing support for updates to TTC Standards, as assigned.


• Conducting design and development reviews.

o Reviewing and commenting on design and technical documents prepared by
consultants and the TTC Engineering Department.

o Reviewing development proposals on an as-needed basis for impact on
standards.

• Maintaining registration with the OAA

The Design Architects will require the following qualifications and experience.

• A university degree in Architecture, combined with at least 10 years of related work experience.

• Registration with the Ontario Association of Architects as a full member is mandatory.

• Experience leading complex multi-disciplinary projects.

• Experience in the transit facility design field considered an asset.

• Experience with MicroStation is considered an asset.
