The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is seeking an individual for the Education Services - Anglophone Division as Director of Learning and Achievement in Fredericton.

What you will do:

Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, the successful candidate will be responsible for advising senior management on the direction for curriculum and services impacting students in the New Brunswick Education System, Anglophone sector.

The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will include:

Curriculum Development:

• Strong understanding of curriculum design and development.
• Ability to align curriculum with educational standards and objectives.

Instructional Design:

• Knowledge of effective instructional design principles and practices.
• Ability to implement innovative and engaging teaching methods.

Data Analysis and Assessment:

• Proficiency in analyzing educational data to inform decision-making.
• Experience with assessment tools and strategies.

Strategic Planning:

• Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for academic achievement.
• Visionary leadership to set long-term goals for the organization.
• Forecast and manage operational and project budgets.

Professional Development:

• Skill in designing and implementing professional development programs for educators.
• Support for ongoing teacher training and improvement.

Communication Skills:

• Strong verbal and technical writing skills.
• Ability to articulate the organization's goals to various stakeholders.
• Skill in building positive relationships with parents, community members, and other stake and rightsholders.

Team Management / Building:

• Manage the work planning and development of a staff of 15-25.
• Completing regular Human Resources tasks (e.g., write job descriptions, performance reviews, attendance management)
• Experience in building and leading effective educational teams.
• Collaboration skills to work with teachers, staff, and administrators.

Adaptability:

• Ability to adapt to changes in educational policies, technologies, and methodologies.
• Flexibility to address the evolving needs of students and the education system.

Problem-Solving Skills:

• Aptitude for identifying and solving educational challenges.
• Ability to make data-driven decisions to address academic issues.

Technology Integration:

• Familiarity with educational technologies and their effective integration into the learning environment.

Commitment to Equity and Inclusion:

• Dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational practices.
• Implementation of strategies to address achievement gaps.
• Knowledge of worldviews

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have:

• Master Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in educational leadership roles, such as director, principal or a curriculum lead.
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience in a field such as adult education/coaching may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Wage:
Pay Band 9: $114,244 – $125,736 annually.

Work environment:

• Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton.
• Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30.
