The Information Management Branch within the Health Information Systems Division facilitates the strategic planning and delivery of information management and technology systems and services that support the enterprise strategic goals of the Alberta Health Ministry and the health system. The eHealth Strategy and Governance Unit operates at a strategic level in relation to information management, technology planning and governance. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, the unit manages the following functions:Health information strategy and planning.
eHealth information governance.
Strategic oversight of Alberta Health Services Connect Care (AHS’s clinical information system).
Oversight and support of other eHealth strategic initiatives.
Federal/Provincial/Territorial (FPT) engagement and collaboration on eHealth. To maximize shared investments and contribute to collective outcomes, the unit works with FPT counterparts to facilitate the advancement of eHealth on a provincial and national scale.

Reporting to the Director, eHealth Strategy and Governance (eHSG), and working with the eHSG Unit, fellow members of the Information Management Branch, and key personnel across Alberta Health, the eHealth Coordinator provides leadership in the strategic oversight, monitoring and reporting for the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Clinical Information System (CIS) Initiative, as well as other priority eHealth projects, initiatives, and/or programs. The position works within a fast-paced, complex and strategic business environment, using advanced analytical, project management, communication and professional expertise to monitor and advance priority eHealth projects, initiatives and/or programs. This includes supporting the eHealth Project Management Office (PMO). The eHealth Coordinator must have highly developed written and verbal communication skills to develop reports, briefings, presentations and other products for various audiences and stakeholder groups, including senior and executive management. The eHealth Coordinator needs to have knowledge of Alberta Health and Government of Alberta policies, procedures, processes, and standards related to project and procurement management. Where required, the eHealth Coordinator will also take a lead role in managing audit inquiries, and outcomes measurements related to eHealth projects, initiative, and/or programs. Responsibilities:Provide support for strategic oversight of the AHS CIS initiative.
Provide support in the establishment and ongoing operation of an enhanced eHealth Project Management Office.
Provide support for development and advancement of the Provincial eHealth Strategy; policy and program planning work associated with the eHealth Governance Program; and the eHealth Provincial Governance Structure, as required.
Lead, participate and contribute to projects that support the mandate and goals of Unit, Branch, Division and Ministry.
Qualifications
University degree (4 years) in a related field (e.g., Public Administration, Information Management/Technology, Business Administration), supplemented by four (4) years of progressively responsible related experience is required.
Experience in strategy development, project planning/management, coordination and business analysis;
Experience with eHealth and/or health information systems;
Experience in drafting briefing notes, policy documents, reports and presentations, in collaboration with appropriate subject-matter experts, for senior management.
Understand how health informatics and health information systems contribute to an organization's or the health sector's strategic direction.
Alberta Health and Government of Alberta policies, procedures, processing, and standards related to project and procurement management.
Have highly developed interpersonal skills and display a high level of sensitivity and mature judgment when dealing with a variety of sensitive, confidential, and complex situations and audiences.
Ability to operate independently with minimal direction to monitor the status of eHealth projects, initiatives, and/or programs, identified as a priority for Alberta Health.
The following items are considered an asset :
Certification in Business Analysis; and,
Project management certification.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

This is a full-time position working 36.25 hours per week. Our office is located at ATB Place in downtown Edmonton (10025 Jasper Avenue). It is a Hybrid work environment (3 days in the office, 2 days working from home). Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
