Overview

Under the authority of the Professional Engineers Act , PEO licenses and governs over 91,500 licence and certificate holders and regulates the practice of professional engineering in Ontario. PEO’s mission is to regulate and advance the practice of engineering to protect the public interest. With a talented, multidisciplinary staff of over 100, PEO’s vision is to be a trusted leader in professional self-regulation.
Position Summary
The Project Manager works with the PMO leadership to drive the execution of strategic projects and digital transformation initiatives within the organization. The Project Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, multiple stakeholders, and external partners, to ensure the planning, executing, reporting, and closing projects is done successfully and seamlessly.
The Project Manager will lead and oversee strategic projects which often include the delivery of software implementation or process improvements. Project Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams; including architecture, software developers, and digital applications team; to ensure the execution of these projects from inception to completion.
Responsibilities
- Work and collaborate closely with PMO leadership, business analysts, IT resources, and solution integrators (vendors) to ensure project goals, requirements, deliverables, and expectations align with overall business objectives and strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with members of project teams on defining the best approach for executing project work; identifying assumptions and constraints, outlining phases, and establishing decision points; and bringing it all together in manageable plans, with status and KPIs, and roadmaps to be agreed upon by key parties.
- Identify and analyze factors that could impact project timelines or deliverables, assessing the likelihood of disrupting project work.
- Lead and manage a variety of projects throughout their entire life cycles; from initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, reporting and controlling to closing; ensuring that project deliverables are completed within defined scope, time, and budget constraints.
- Manage IT projects that include software and solution implementation, infrastructure and cybersecurity components.
- Create, regularly update, and maintain comprehensive project documentation and information; ensuring access to up-to-date information about project progress; and clear communication and transparency across all project stakeholders.
- Contribute to fostering a culture of innovation and continuous change, promoting digital literacy and adoption of new technologies and new processes throughout the organization.
- Continuously evaluate and improve digital transformation strategies and methodologies, incorporating feedback and lessons learned to drive ongoing improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Specialized Skills and Knowledge
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
- Well versed in project management techniques and principles; having managed diverse implementation and transformation projects.
- Experienced in delivering IT projects focused on software implementation, including upgrades and integration.
- Experienced in managing business applications (e.g. COTS, CRM, ERP, etc), custom configurations and development, business architecture and workflow, would be an asset.
- Experienced in Change Management; ability to document problems, and requests for non-standard or major changes on already agreed-upon items; evaluating their impact on the continuity of the project; and escalating per change management protocols.
- Capable of developing detailed project plans, ensuring resource availability and allocation, and delivering every project on time within budget and scope.
- Capable of working on complex and critical projects that involve uncertainty, ambiguity, and risks.
- Ability to work well under pressure while handling changing and competing deadlines and time constraints.
- Ability to communicate project updates, milestones, and potential impacts to stakeholders and senior management, ensuring transparency and alignment with project goals and user expectations.
- Possess strong leadership skills and the ability to make critical decisions independently.
- Strong understanding of technological systems and processes, with experience in leveraging technology to drive organizational change and improve business processes.
- Have a deep understanding of risk management strategies and possess the ability to anticipate and mitigate potential risks effectively.
- Able to work with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Planner, and Visio, and with specialized software such as Jira, Confluence, and Miro.
Education/Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience managing complex IT projects.
- Bachelor's degree in business, IT and/or equivalent.
- Training in project and/or change management.
- Strong knowledge of Agile project management principles
- Working knowledge of current and emerging IT technologies
