Job The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for a regular tenure track faculty position. The target field is optical communications. Although this list is not exclusive, the main subfields of interest are : Optical transmissions and interconnections Photonic devices Quantum photonics Quantum communication Optical and digital signal processing. Selection criterias The selection criteria are as follows: Hold a PhD in electrical or computer engineering or in a discipline relevant to the research field covered by this position, or be in the process of obtaining a PhD (thesis submitted). Relevance of scientific training and experience to the identified field Proven ability to conduct university- level research Potential for developing an autonomous and original research activity in relation to the identified field Demonstrated aptitude or potential for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentoring graduate students, and commitment to pedagogical innovation Potential or demonstrated commitment to community service Ability to communicate and integrate into the institution’s French-speaking environment (within a reasonable timeframe and ideally from the start) Matching professional potential with the key competencies required to perform the professorial function : Analysis, synthesis and judgment Creativity and innovation Communication skills People skills and openness Ability to work in a team and with partners Autonomy and sense of responsibility Sense of ethics and duty Conditions Conditions Salary according to the current collective agreement Additional information When setting up your research program, you’ll be guided through the process of obtaining research funding (from both government agencies and industry), as well as graduate student recruitment and research supervision. Undergraduate and graduate teaching activities are conducted in French. Université Laval offers non-French-speaking candidates various means of learning and perfecting the French language during their first three years of employment. Childcare services are available on campus, and professors are entitled to parental leave.
