Job description

The Provincial Capital Commission (PCC) provides enhanced visitor experiences and educational programming in Wascana Centre and at the Government House to inspire pride in Saskatchewan's Capital City. The Provincial Capital Commission is currently seeking to add a hard-working individual to our team in a Horticulturist 2 position. This position reports to our Horticulture Supervisor and works in a team environment to care for and maintain the flower beds and plants within the Provincial Capital Commission, including Wascana Centre and the Government House as well as care for interior plants in buildings throughout the park. Due to the nature of the job, this position is seasonal and will work approximately from March - October.

As a Horticulturist 2, you will:

- Provide routine plant maintenance at Wascana Place and Government House.
- Greet and interact with park visitors in a polite and courteous manner while providing information.
- Prepare, pot, and maintain interior and exterior plant material.
- Water, pot and weed plants in the greenhouse.
- Perform outside physical labour in all weather conditions and work in a safe manner.
- Operate and use required tools and equipment (rototiller, string trimmer, etc.) in a safe manner.
- Perform minor tool maintenance.
- Oversee small work crews.

Qualifications

- Qualified candidates typically hold a certificate in Horticulture or related fields.  
- Eighteen months of experience in Horticulture or related field.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Must be available to work weekends.
- Experiencing overseeing small work crews would be an asset.
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.
