JOB DESCRIPTION

Exceed Electrical Engineering is seeking a Controls Systems Engineer or Technologist to fulfill a role at one of our client sites just outside Williams Lake, B.C.  This is role requires a work rotation of 7 days on and 7 days off for one of Exceeds mining clients .

The candidate we are seeking will ideally have experience with electrical distribution and control systems specifically with Schneider Modicon PLC’s (M340, M580), EcoStruxure Control Expert, and Aveva System Platform.

Accommodation near the site including meals will be provided along with a company vehicle for use on site, including all required materials and travel expenses between Kamloops and Williams Lake.

Location: Williams Lake, B.C.

Salary: Competitive salary commensurate to experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• PLC programming maintenance. SCADA system upgrades and maintenance as well as commissioning

• Quick thinking and skilled in diagnosing/troubleshooting network and equipment problems

• Read control schematics, identify errors, mark-up schematics with corrections and reverse engineer control systems

• Attend client meetings, record, and understand client requirements

• Support automation team with maintenance requests

• Manage and maintain the OT network

• Test finished products and system capabilities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Engineers: Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Engineering in controls or electrical from an accredited post-secondary institution with a focus on control systems

• Technologists: Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Technology or equivalent

• Technologists must be eligible to be registered with Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia

• Engineers must have registration with, or eligible to be registered with Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. and have P.Eng status or be in the process of obtaining a P.Eng.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience working in an electrical and controls environment

• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada

• Must have a reliable vehicle

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE IS

• Proficient in Schneider Modicon, and PLC architectures including M340 and M580

• Proficient with various HMI/SDA systems, specifically AVEVA System Platform and Intouch

• Good working knowledge of networking including layer 3 routing and Firewall experience would be an asset but not necessary

• Good working knowledge of virtualized environments would be an assed but not necessary

• Strong interpersonal skills to rapidly establish a good working relationship with clients

• Entrepreneurial work ethic, must be self sufficient and have a strong ability to problem solve

• Successful candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and background check
