Job Summary

As the Plant Lead Hand, you will play a crucial role in distribution/manufacturing operations. Your primary responsibility will be to lead, guide, and support the plant staff in daily activities, ensuring that production targets are met efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires a combination of technical skills, leadership ability, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. Reporting to the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of plant associates. Delegate tasks, set performance goals, and provide guidance and support to ensure team productivity and efficiency.

Production Oversight: Oversee daily production activities, ensuring that processes run smoothly, and targets are met. Address any issues that arise in the production line promptly.

Quality Assurance: Ensure that production output meets quality standards. Assist with quality control checks and coordinate with the quality assurance team for compliance.

Training and Development: Train new employees on plant procedures and safety protocols. Identify training needs for current staff and facilitate ongoing skill development.

Safety Compliance: Enforce strict safety guidelines and company standards. Conduct regular safety inspections and participate in the development of safety programs.

Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure machinery is in good working order. Report any equipment issues and suggest improvements.

Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory levels, ensuring that materials and supplies are available as needed.

Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on production and staff performance. Provide feedback and recommendations to management for operational improvements.

Problem-Solving: Address and resolve workplace issues effectively. Act as a liaison between plant associates and management.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
Proven experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
Forklift Experience a must.

Proficiency in relevant software and computer skills.

Working Conditions:

This role involves working in a plant environment, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Physical requirements include standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, and performing repetitive tasks.
