Job description
We are looking for a Collections and Compliance Associate to join our team in London. The ideal candidate has their Paralegal license and experience working with the Landlord and Tenant Board. This position is a full time, onsite position.
Priorities change regularly in this position and the Collections and Compliance Associate must be flexible and willing to change roles and responsibilities as required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Rent Collection
- Post rent payments
- Speak with residents about rental arrears
- Prepare and have reminders regarding arrears delivered
- Correspond with Resident Managers as required
- Correspond with social service agencies as required
- Legal Process
- Process Tribunal Forms
- Attend Tribunal hearings
- File documents with the Landlord and Tenant Board
- Compliance of Lease Agreement
- Ensure residents are following guidelines outlined in the tenancy agreement
- Collaborate with Resident Managers, Property Administrators
- Draft compliance letters
- Resident Relations
- Attend to resident issues and disputes as they arise
- Update property management software with resident information in notes, documents and ledger
- Administration
- Maintain paper and electronic files
- Maintain notes for Resident accounts on Propertyware
- Post rent payments made in person or electronically to resident’s account ledger
Skills and Qualifications
- 1 or more years of experience working in collections is an asset
- Paralegal license, or working towards license, is preferred
- Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act and Landlord Tenant Board; public speaking skills and experience
- Computer proficiency and the ability to learn property management software
- Experience in property management and/or administration
- Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to produce accurate documentation
- Organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to maint ain lasting relationships with residents and staff members
- Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
- Negotiation and decision making skills
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to maintain a high level of confidentiality
