Civil Engineer - Water and Wastewater
(full-time permanent position)

We are seeking a Water/Wastewater Professional to join our water/wastewater group to provide engineering solutions for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment systems for private and municipal clients. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the entire project lifecycle through planning, design and construction. Our water/wastewater group works on a range of projects including small and large diameter watermains and sewers, water storage and pumping stations, sewage pumping stations, tunnelling, and pipeline rehabilitation. This position will involve work on all aspects of project delivery as described below.
What you will do:
- Assist with the design of municipal linear water and wastewater infrastructure assignments
- Liaise with regulatory agencies such as the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks, Conservation Authorities, Utility owners and local Municipalities
- Support proposal preparation, report writing, cost estimation, drawing preparation, contract tendering, construction contract administration, and construction inspection
- Conduct site visits
- Contribute to team initiatives related to continuous improvement
- Conduct site visits and condition assessments of a variety of municipal facilities.
- position will involve regular travel to sites within approximately 1.5 hour drive from Guelph
What you will need:
- Desire to work with both municipal water and wastewater systems
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, set priorities and manage your time
- Graduate of a civil engineering program or similar with knowledge of hydraulics and water and wastewater Graduates of non-engineering programs (e.g. science, geography or technologist programs) with related interests and skills are encouraged to apply.
- Strong organizational, oral, written communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Possess a valid driver's licence and have access to a personal vehicle
- Knowledge of provincial drinking water and wastewater regulations, Ministry of Environment Design Guidelines, and the Ontario Building Code is an asset
- Research experience is an asset
- Related experience: 1-5 years
