Position: Diamond Driller Helper – Surface Mining (NOC 7611)

Locations of Work: Whitehorse, Yukon Territory

Wage: $24 to $28.00 per hour dependent on experience

Start Date: As soon as possible

Vacancies: 12

Terms of Employment : Permanent, full time, 40 to 84 hours per week

Employment Conditions : Overtime, Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Shift, Weekend, Night

Job Requirements

Language : English

Education : No degree, certificate or diploma

Experience: 3 months to less than 2 years

Security and Safety : Drug test

Transportation/Travel Information: Travel expenses paid by employer

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities : Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Overtime required, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling

Work Location Information : Staff accommodation available, Room and board provided, Remote location, Various locations

Work Site Environment : Outdoors, Cold/refrigerated, Noisy, Hot

Personal Suitability : Effective interpersonal skills, Team player, Flexibility, Reliability

Equipment and Machinery Experience: Drilling machine

Specific Skills: Ensure health and safety regulations are followed

Weight Handling : Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Job duties and responsibilities include :

• Assist with manual operations, rig set-up and tear down
• Assist with pulling and adding drill rods
• Empty inner tube containing core samples and place in core boxes
• Marking depth of core recovery while ensuring no contaminants
• Perform general maintenance on equipment as directed
• Refuel drill and water pumps, run and maintain waterline
• Keep drill platform clean and organized
