Job description
Reporting to the Plant Manager the Maintenance Manager is responsible for the daily activities of directing monitoring
and coordinating all activities of the maintenance department to produce quality products efficiently and costeffectively.
This role provides leadership for the maintenance department and is responsible for ensuring the buildings facilities
plants amenities grounds silos utilities and all equipment are in good working order.
Principal Job Duties
Develop a work climate that promotes good working relations and continuous communication with
unionized employees
Ensure Safety is a priority and enforce safety regulations to ensure that all maintenance employees are
following all Health and Safety procedures
Manage the Preventative Maintenance Program to ensure it reduces downtime and improves the overall
reliability of manufacturing equipment
Ensure that equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with company standards and expectations
Proactively improve the functioning of the process and aim for increased efficiency by supporting plant
Continuous Improvement efforts including Lean activities
Ensure that all the tooling spares including dies for Brown Trim Tools are ordered in a timely manner
Monitor completion of job assignments and control overtime requirements (for both FT & Contracted
personnel) to ensure service calls and machine repairs are completed on time and within budget
Build the competency of maintenance personnel ensuring collaboration and communication
Create SOP/OPL Facilities documentation and provide employee training
Actively participate in and support daily weekly and monthly Tier meetings to ensure accurate data
collection and information transfer.
Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operations and work with the maintenance
crew to implement the needed preventative measures.
Ensure that an annual maintenance budget and plan are developed and followed and that cost targets are
within budget.
Provide expert advice and guidance regarding the repair and maintenance of all machines and equipment.
Develop initiatives to promote productivity gains reductions of cost and new methods of doing business.
Ensure that maintenance support is available as needed
Other duties as may be assigned
Postsecondary degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 5 years of experience in a maintenance management or supervisory role supervising a work team
preferably within a unionized manufacturing environment.
Experience in the Plastics industry is an asset.
Passionate about delivering consistent EXCELLENCE.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment tact and
discretion when dealing with stakeholders both internally and externally (Contractors Auditors Customers)
Effective organizational and time management skills capable of managing multiple tasks and competing
priorities within short timelines.
Experience with preventive maintenance programs PLCs parts inventory cost control sourcing
parts and managing budgets.
Excellent troubleshooting diagnostic analytical and problemsolving skills
