Hays Recruitment has partnered up with a large manufacturing company in North York, ON. Our client is looking for an in-direct Procurement Officer to join their team on a 6-month contract to possible extension or permanency. This role follows a full-time in-office model.
Your new role
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for HR, corporate services, IT, and other departments to ensure efficient and cost-effective purchasing of goods and services.
- Identify and assess potential suppliers/vendors, negotiate contracts, and establish favorable terms and conditions to optimize value for the organization.
- Manage the entire contract lifecycle, from drafting and reviewing contracts to contract execution, renewal, and termination.
- Ensure contracts comply with legal and regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and other stakeholders to review and approve contracts, resolve contract-related issues, and mitigate risks.
- Monitor contract performance, track key contract milestones, and ensure that both parties fulfill their obligations as outlined in the contract.
- Identify and escalate contract risks and deviations and develop and implement mitigation strategies to minimize potential disruptions or liabilities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract records, including contract documents, amendments, and correspondence, in a centralized contract management system.
- Facilitate contract negotiations, including price adjustments, scope changes, and contract amendments, as necessary to address evolving business needs or market conditions.
- Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on contract-related matters, including interpretation of contract terms, rights, and obligations.
- Conduct regular contract reviews and audits to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and enhanced contract management practices.
- Stay abreast of changes in contract law, regulations, and industry standards, and recommend updates to contract templates, policies, and procedures as needed to ensure compliance and processes
What you'll need to succeed
- 3 to 5 years of experience in In-Direct Procurement
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a related field
- Experience in Manufacturing is an asset
- Demonstrated experience in contract management, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts across various categories and industries.
- Thorough understanding of contract law, legal principles, and contract administration best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to review complex contracts to identify potential risks, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
- Strong MS Office Suite – proficiency in Excel (advanced)
