The incumbent will work in collaboration with the Deputy Director, Projects, Programs and Operational Development to coordinate the delivery of preparedness and resilience projects, including the implementation of a project to prepare seniors at risk of being impacted by flooding. Their main responsibilities will be to plan and monitor the activities and resources assigned to various projects as well as develop, draft and update the required documentation, tools and reports.
In this role, you will:
Responsibility 1: Project Coordination
- Draft and revise documentation and tools related to project development, implementation and monitoring.
- Coordinate the review process for existing documentation.
- Support the implementation of preparedness and resilience projects, including a project aimed at preparing seniors for disasters.
- Manage timelines and implement the workplan for your assigned projects.
- Liaise with various partners, municipalities and agencies and participate in local meetings as required.
- Continually assess the human and material resources required to carry out the activities and make sure they are sufficient.
- Provide administrative, reporting and budget oversight for various projects.
- Assist in developing preparedness and resilience projects, including drafting decision papers.
- Provide expertise on the operational processes for implementing preparedness and resilience projects.
- Promote and present preparedness and resilience tools and projects, both internally and externally.
- Organize and facilitate internal meetings (briefing and debriefing sessions, internal committees, etc.) as required.
- Produce the analyses and reports required by management for your designated area of activity.
- Make sure reports comply with CRC standards by using the appropriate systems and tools.
- Assess program and service delivery, provide recommendations for improvement, and support their implementation.
- Help develop annual objectives for the department and ensure those related to your area are achieved.
- Manage all day-to-day and recurring job-related requests from your immediate supervisor.
Responsibility 2: Team Coordination
- Establish and implement standardized work practices with the Preparedness volunteer team and other volunteer teams supporting the projects.
- Assist in onboarding new Preparedness and Resilience volunteers.
- Prepare and facilitate meetings with the Preparedness and Resilience volunteer teams.
- Assist in preparing and facilitating Preparedness and Resilience team meetings.
- Attend meetings with the Projects, Programs and Operational Development team.
- Help maintain a healthy and safe workplace.
Responsibility 3: Emergency Response
- Act as an active member of an emergency response team.
- Work with various teams associated with Emergency Management to develop and implement plans for emergency response readiness.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of emergency procedures (electronic operations manual).
- Ensure that services delivery is compliant with established standards and procedures.
- Implement and regularly update various components of the Red Cross's disaster assistance program to adequately meet the needs of impacted people targeted by the recovery program.
- Liaise with the other assistance providers to maximize needs coverage.
- Participate in operational debriefings and facilitate them when required.
- Prepare internal and external feedback and/or progress reports.
What we are looking for:
- A university degree in project management or other disciplines related to the job.
- At least three years of relevant work experience.
- Any other combination of training and experience deemed equivalent may be considered.
- Experience as a Red Cross volunteer in Emergency Management is an asset, especially in a manager or supervisor capacity.
- A valid driver's licence is essential.
- Understanding the role of the Canadian Red Cross across the four dimensions of emergency preparedness is an asset.
- Excellent computer proficiency (databases, Office suite) is required.
- Excellent knowledge of and practical experience with a client database (an asset).
- Bilingualism: completely fluent in French and proficient in English.
- Proven analytical skills.

Working conditions:
- This position is unionized, temporary and full time (at 35 hours a week).
- Position based in Montreal.
- Most of the work is done in an office environment or remotely.
- Travel within the province and across Canada may be required.
- Potential for responding in disaster areas, and in difficult, unstable (environmentally, physically, socially, etc.) and uncomfortable conditions (noise, odour, smoke, moisture, vulnerable clients).
- May be required to lift up to 20 kg of relief supplies during preparedness activities and responses.
- May be required to respond during non-traditional hours (i.e. late night or weekends) and work long hours in a demanding context.
- May be required to be on call as scheduled.
