BASIC FUNCTION:
Reporting to the Assistant Quality Manager, the Quality Assurance Engineering is responsible for, but not limited to, providing quality-engineering services to internal and external customers and to assist in maintaining quality standards in accordance with customer requirements.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for the PPAP process. He/she is also responsible for the continual improvement strategies to maintain and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction, thus supporting AGS's profit and growth objectives. In the absence of the Assistant Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will assume as needed those responsibilities.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- As per PPAP requirements, Supervise all physical laboratory work and reliability testing ensuring product meets customer specifications.
- In the absence of the Assistant Quality Manager, initiates initial response documentation to customers when a compliant has been received and advises Assistant Quality Manager of details and action taken.
- Assist the Assistant Quality Manager as a Customer Liaison.
- Responsible for all PPAP requirements and the PPAP timing.
- Lead internal TS16949 audits and Layered Process Audits
- Ensure that inspectors are kept aware of changing criteria, methods, etc. by making sure that inspectors read log books, information sheets, news notices, Quality Alerts and conducts quality meetings when required.
- Participates in 8-D / PPSR corrective action team activities and using a cross-functional team approach in resolving problems related to customer complaints.
- Leads APQP for Quality to meet all Customer Requirements.
- Ensure adherence that the quality system includes:
- Lessons learned actions
- Scrap process/procedures
- Non-conforming product handling process/procedures
- Contamination control for as shipped product
- Process error proofing in place with challenges
- Product containment (batch & hold systems) and final release strategy
- Process control and capability
- Process reject tip level monitoring
- Validate conformance to Engineering Specification and part print requirements
- Works in conjunction with Engineering, Manufacturing and Sales/Marketing for all PPAP/APQP time-line development and completion of same.
- Completing and documenting capability studies on various processes (i.e. Cpk, Ppk)
- Documenting Control Plans, PFMEA and Flow Charts
- Responsible for Supplier metrics, Supplier PPAP and Supplier issues.
- Take responsibility as a competent person under Section 27 of the OSHA for the safety and well-being of employees on shift.
- Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker. Ensure that employees receive appropriate training and they wear appropriate PPE using additional safety equipment when required and follow safe work procedure and practices. Report unsafe conditions or equipment, correcting substandard acts or conditions.
- Respond to incidents, arrange for first aid and take precautions to avoid further injury or impact. Follow procedures for accident investigation and reporting. Cooperate with internal and external contacts.
- Participate in information sessions such as safety talks and other forms of staff meetings.
- Oversee the general safety of the people and plant. Observe and monitor employee safety and provide H&S feedback.
- Any employee observed not following safety rules will be disciplined up to and including discharge.
- Has the authority to stop production operations, concerning plant quality or safety issues.
- Conducts new employee quality orientation as needed
- Use safety procedures in all work and according to AGS Health & Safety, Environmental and Housekeeping Policies.
- Perform any other duties that may be specifically or generally assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 and College Diploma/University Degree in Quality Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Minimum of two (2) years Quality Assurance experience in automotive or equivalent. (ie: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, GR&R, Control)
Experience in problem solving / process improvement techniques would be an asset. (ie: PRR, 7 steps, PPS, Deep drill, 5 why)
