Job description
The Product Improvement Specialist will work across the functions liaising between the Engineering IPT's and Manufacturing investigating issues that arise during the manufacturing process and that require Engineering support to investigate and resolve issues, for example:
1) Investigate assembly problems
2) Sudden increase in NCR on a part
3) Support lean sigma events on problem parts
4) Identify cost reductions opportunities
5) Carrying out root cause analysis and recommend resolutions
This role addresses the requirement to have a dedicated Specialist supporting Engineering, Manufacturing and Purchasing on quality improvements and cost reductions.
Facilitate design for manufacturing and concurrent engineering activities
During product development phase, ensure that design for manufacturing objectives are defined and met (manufacturing costs, lead times and quality)
During sustaining phase, identify, promote and support implementation of product improvements targeting better manufacturability
Jointly with Manufacturing Engineering, support understanding of definition requirements and proper transmission into manufacturing and inspection processes
Ensure that manufacturing needs and constraints are properly taken into account in product definition
Jointly with manufacturing quality, ensure continuous monitoring of design for manufacturing KPIs (non-conformities, process capability, etc.)
Jointly with multi-sites Product Improvement team, develop generic improvement projects related to processes, methods and tools supporting design for manufacturing activities and needs
Jointly with Engineering and Manufacturing, ensure efficient manufacturing concessions treatment by Engineering, propose optimizations and support their implementation when needed
Travel to other Safran Landing Systems manufacturing sites to support concurrent engineering activities and/or cross-sites projects.
