Job description
The City of Maple Ridge is a vibrant and rapidly growing community dedicated to fostering sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for our residents. With exciting projects on the horizon, we are seeking a skilled Director of Planning to lead and shape the future of our community. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Planning will lead the management and oversight of a dedicated group of professional and technical planning staff. Responsibilities will also encompass directing the development of key planning documents such as the Official Community Plan, policy development, improving long-term community plans and strategies, and development guidelines. Additionally, the Director of Planning will oversee the processing of various applications including rezoning, development permits, and subdivision requests. The role extends to managing the Environmental Affairs section within the department, ensuring a comprehensive approach to planning that balances rural and urban needs while fostering public engagement and consultation with Council, developers, consultants, and other key internal and external stakeholder groups.
