(REMOTE position; preference given to candidates located near one of our operational locations)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must be able to perform, but not be limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
The Manager, Continuous Improvement plays a key role in improving operational efficiency, safety, and reliability within the Airport and Cargo Operations Department. Responsibilities include:
Process and Procedure Design: Collaborate with the business analysts to develop and enhance processes and procedures that align with safety and reliability standards. You and your team will design scalable processes that accommodate the unique operating environments and resource availability specific to our Northern operation. Identify opportunities for digital solutions and implement them when appropriate to streamline processes. Take responsibility for updating, maintaining, and controlling passenger, ramp, and cargo manuals and other supporting documentation.
Continuous Improvement: Implement continuous improvement methodologies, such as analysis and lean principles, to identify opportunities for enhancing operational efficiency. Regularly observe procedural execution in live airport environments to identify improvement initiatives and address any performance gaps. Operational Excellence: Drive a high-performance culture of teamwork, commitment to service, and operational reliability within the Airport and Cargo Operations department. Focus on actively developing the continuous improvement culture and capabilities of the leadership team. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organization, including other departments and external partners, to ensure alignment and coordination of improvement initiatives. Act as a champion for operational excellence and seek input and feedback from relevant stakeholders. Training and Development: Working with the training team to develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the Airport and Cargo Operations team in continuous improvement methodologies. Foster a learning environment that encourages employees to actively engage in identifying process improvement opportunities. Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all process improvements meet safety regulations and compliance requirements. Continuously assess and monitor the impact of process changes on safety and reliability, adjusting as necessary. Participate in safety investigations, analyzing incidents, and identifying areas for process and procedural improvements. Implement corrective actions to address safety hazards and mitigate risk.
- Performance Tracking: Establish performance metrics and KPIs to track the progress and impact of improvement initiatives. Regularly analyze data and report on performance to identify trends and areas for further improvement.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as Operations Management, Business Administration, or Engineering).
- 5-10 years of experience in operations management and process development, preferably in a related industry.
- Professional designations such as Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Six Sigma, or Kaizen facilitator, demonstrating expertise in process improvement methodologies.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis, with the ability to gather, interpret, and draw insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
- Technologically savvy with proficiency in utilizing relevant software and tools to support process improvement initiatives.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite and other relevant software applications.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a track record of building and sustaining high-performance teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in diverse operating environments and adjust to changing priorities.
- Willingness to travel to various airport locations within the network to observe operations and identify improvement opportunities, sometimes with extended stays.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all required security clearances.
