This role will effectively manage Material Handling Equipment located at multiple facilities within a defined geographical region, employees, and contractors through defined processes and systems. Success measurements include equipment performance (reliability/quality), safety (compliance with regulatory standards, plus accident frequency and severity), cost (equipment, facility, and labor), and successful implementation of continuous improvement projects.
Responsibilities
- Ensure 100% compliance with quality, health & safety rules, guidelines, and regulations; ensure the maintenance programs are properly executed, meeting the requirements of Labour Canada, legislative rules and regulations.
- Develop, manage, inspect, and oversee Material Handling Equipment maintenance programs to ensure availability and reliability, work order completion, and performance.
- Develop tools to assess and compare internal versus external maintenance costs.
- Develop tools to identify investment opportunities, find and implement cost-saving solutions throughout the network of terminals.
- Lead various reliability projects and develop new methods for the preventive diagnosis of operations failures focusing on overall equipment effectiveness.
- Create and monitor plans for proactive maintenance procedures and asset lifecycle management.
- Develop and revise preventative maintenance programs and schedules for all pieces of equipment and coordinate/plan schedules for in-house repairs and outside contractor repairs.
- Perform periodic inspections of recently maintained equipment to observe the quality of the maintenance performed and the operating condition of the equipment.
- Build a solid parts inventory system and regularly check and inspect the parts and tools availability. Place orders when needed.
- Work in conjunction with district and unit managers and other maintenance supervisors to ensure the tactical procurement of supplies, parts, services, and equipment.
- Work on the CMMS standardization, formatting & content development.
- Support implementation of the Maintenance System - Life Cycle Asset Management program for the terminals through commissioning and operations transition.
- Contribute to developing and maintaining a positive work environment by engaging and motivating employees
- Work in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager to provide and/or ensure effective training and development of employees.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years experience in managing assets in multiple facilities;
- Conveyor system experience in a high-volume, 24x7, high-speed package sortation environment;
- Must have lead-hand or supervisory experience managing 4 to 6 skilled tradespeople.
- Diploma or other equivalent qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or equivalent)
- Relevant work experience of 5+ years in a progressive reliability-centered environment; conveyor, material handling, courier, and mail operations.
- Experience in the manufacturing facility or logistic industry is an asset.
- Experience managing or supervising staff in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Knowledgeable of AutoCAD, Navisworks, or Revit
- General health and safety knowledge (Quebec CNESST, ESA, CSA, ULC, etc.).
- Proficient in some, if not all, of the following: PHA - Preliminary hazards analysis, FMEA - Failure modes and effects analysis, CA - Criticality analysis, SFMEA - Simplified failure modes and effects analysis, MI - Maintainability information, FTA - Fault tree analysis, ETA - Event tree analysis, Data analysis techniques including Statistical Process Control, Reliability modeling, and prediction, Fault Tree Analysis, Weibull Tree Analysis or Six Sigma Methodologies
- Must have hands-on experience and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Outstanding communication, customer service, and leadership skills.
- Flexibility is required to work during weekends, stat holidays, and in the afternoon or night shift.
- Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
