Job description
All students must be full time day students at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution and be returning to full time attendance in fall of 2024.
Students must meet the basic requirements of the position. Should you be offered the position, with the City of Cornwall, you will be required to submit verification of school status.

Primary Duties:
- To assist in the organization of special events for the summer such as: Lifeguard Competition, Water Safety Week, Drowning Prevention Day, Pre-Season Training and workshops & promotional events for the outdoor pools and Aquatic Centre.
- To research, organize and implement presentations to community clubs & service groups promoting the outdoor pools and Aquatic Centre programs.
- To organize mall displays etc., to advertise summer programs, special events and Aquatic Centre programs & materials.
- To be responsible to monitor and setup first-aid, stationary and cleaning supplies for the outdoor pools.
- To monitor and count Lifesaving materials and forms utilized for both indoor and outdoor summer programs.
- To obtain sponsors for the Lifeguard Competition from various local businesses.
- To ensure the mandatory Lifeguard competition meets all safety and technical requirements set by the Department of Planning, Development & Recreation. To further develop and increase lifeguarding skills and first-aid treatment.
- To assist with monitoring the lifeguards teaching and guarding policy requirements throughout the summer.
- To contact local news media, radio etc., to advertise special events, summer programs & Aquatic Centre programs & materials.
- To submit a complete report on special events results at the end of the summer.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Aquatics & Programming or Manager, Recreation.
Qualifications: (documentation to be provided at time of application unless indicated not required)
- Minimum of eighteen (18) years of ageĀ
- Current Lifesaving Swim Instructor Certification.
- Current Lifesaving & Emergency First Aid Instructor Certification.
- Current National Lifeguard Certification.
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR / AED level C. (must be from training agencies approved by the Ontario Ministry of Labour or the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.)
- Should have background experience in organizing, conducting and supervising aquatic programs.
- Must have access to a vehicle for transportation.
- Bilingualism considered an asset.
