SENIOR SALES MANAGER – Agricultural Sector
Our client supports farmers in growing healthy and productive crops. With manufacturing/retail locations throughout Atlantic Canada, its primary products include fertilizers, crop protectants and technical expertise.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Agricultural Sales Manager will be responsible for driving growth within agricultural markets, leveraging company values to meet sales targets while aligning with sales strategy, and being a principal point of contact between the business and agricultural industry.
Role Responsibilities:
- Arrange and coordinate technical meetings, workshops and conferences regarding products and services.
- Review and analyze data from soil test reports and geographical locations and provide recommendations to growers on fertilizer blends and crop protection.
- Operate as a team within strict sales/operational budgets by period to achieve sales targets.
- Ordering and stocking product between branches and through procurement based on customer requirements.
- Raw material, crop protectant and farm supply forecasting production for the following cropping year.
- Soil sampling, product delivery, crop scouting, tissue sampling, pest monitoring/ identification.
- Execute on all aspects of the account management process.
- Perform, carry out, analyze, and report data from field trials.
- Contribute to budget planning process.
- Provide recommendation on sales strategies.
- Operating/maintain business within customer budgets, including preparing bids and maintaining contracts.
- Attend in-person or virtual industry/supplier meetings.
- Provide agronomy expertise and recommendations to other Sales Representatives and Sales Managers.
Key Qualifications / Experience Required:
- College level diploma (or above) or certificate related to Agriculture.
- Work experience with potato crop is required.
- Minimum 5 years of account management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational and motivational skills, accurate record keeping, and attention to detail.
- Competent in troubleshooting farm and small plot research equipment and resources.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
- Demonstrated ability to educate and supervise stakeholders.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as required.
- Ability to adapt to changes in routine to achieve objectives.
- Strong computer skills with general utility software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
