The West Vancouver Parks, Culture & Community Services Department has an opening for a permanent, part-time Program Coordinator – Health and Fitness to join our Health & Fitness team. Reporting to the Community Wellness & Recreation Manager, this position will be responsible for the planning and provision of community fitness and wellness programs and services for all ages.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

The preferred candidate will possess: strong leadership, budgetary, organizational, communication and customer service skills; previous experience and proven success in exemplary teaching methods and group leadership techniques related to fitness and mind-body instruction for all ages; sound knowledge of fitness facilities and equipment required for a wide range of physical abilities and age groups; a knowledge of the fitness and health needs, trends, interests, requirements, and resources of the community; familiarity with the philosophy, principles, practices, and objectives of community recreation.

The successful candidate has completed a University Degree with courses in Health & Fitness Discipline or related subjects or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Desired certification includes: related BCRPA certification including current Supervisor of Fitness Leaders or CANFIT Pro; current CPR-C and Standard First Aid; and a valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle. Working knowledge of JDE and Activenet software are ideal. BCRPA Older Adult Fitness Leader designation is an asset.

The successful candidate will be required to supply an acceptable Police Information Check and a copy of their credentials.

Hours of Work:
30 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)
Rate of Pay:
$35.72 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits
