Come work as an Academic Cardiac Surgeon with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!
Vancouver Coastal Health Authority seeks applications for the position of Academic Cardiac Surgeon with a clinical focus in aortic surgery (open and endovascular), and an academic focus on outcomes research, to join the primary site of Vancouver General Hospital.
The successful candidate will have successfully completed a Cardiac Surgery Residency and have obtained certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have ability to obtain licensure in British Columbia. The position requires additional fellowship level training in aortic surgery from a high-volume centre to include expertise in open surgery (primary and reoperative, including root, ascending, arch, and valve sparing procedures) and endovascular surgery (including complex branch graft selection and delivery). Significant training and experience in the selection and implantation of CEID for brady-therapy (pacemaker) is essential. Experience with selection, implantation, and management of short term mechanical circulatory support technology including VA ECMO and Impella is also necessary
From the academic perspective, the successful candidate will have an already established track record of academic accomplishment in cardiac science, and is required to have a Master’s degree in surgical science with an emphasis on outcomes research, to enable leadership of the Cardiac Surgery Outcomes Research Group which has been founded in collaboration with Cardiac Services BC, the provincial funding agency for cardiac care in BC
