Core Job Functions:
- Onsite support to the Seaboard “Teck” operations representing and accountable to the Seaboard management team.
- Provide daily support and direction to the driver teams onsite at Coal Valley and HVC in driver management, inventory management, safe operations and other daily operational needs and challenges.
- Ensure company assets are being properly operated and maintained by all drivers and service technicians
- Assist with asset management and maintenance programs with local or remote service centers
- Create an operating discipline around Seaboard and Teck processes i.e. daily Proof of Delivery (POD) submissions
- Be a “champion” for more effective work processes and standard operating procedures (PLAYBOOK)
- Create a culture of discipline around safety, service and operational process performance
- Assist with the day-to-day resource needs of the business – driver availability and asset readiness
- Deliver on the daily asset utilization and productivity targets
- Ensure daily customer communication standards are followed and escalations occur as required
- Face to face visits with mine supervisors
- Discuss Seaboard wins and losses
- Understand the customers concerns and look to find amicable resolution
- Manage the day-to-day driver issues that may come up, and develop a driver centric culture where respect and meeting the needs of the driver (in alignment with business goals) are achieved daily
- Be relentless in providing a satisfying and rewarding work culture within the operations group such that it is a place of work that is sought after and drivers want to be part of
- Ensure all processes relating to compliance are adhered to i.e. retorque, PMs, HOS, Speed etc.
- Provide support in response to HSE incidents in partnership with HSE Coordinators and management
- Help to foster a culture of ownership around costs
- Active involvement of driver recruitment and retention processes including on-boarding needs
- Provide oversight on training efforts on mine sites and areas leading up to the mines
- Troubleshoot any equipment issues that may arise onsite and coordinate mechanical service support
- Ensure maximum driver productivity is maintained
- Assist with driver disciplinary discussions where and when required
- Development of drivers abilities, skills and adherence to company compliance
- Provide first line of response to customer complaints, concerns
- Additional duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- A valid Class 1 licenses
- A clean driver’s abstract
- 3-5 years’ of relevant experience
- A passion for safety and a record of safe practices in the workplace
- Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to evaluate, train and manage drivers
- The ability to self-manage and be productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment
- Great focus and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proven ability to deal productively with internal and external customers
