Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Tuesdays may have 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM shifts, as required.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE As a member of the Community Services Department, this position will provide safe supervision and leadership for children and youth ages 4 -16 years with age-appropriate, well-planned games and activities for their designated camp group, and be a role-model and resource to all other camp staff/leaders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Ensuring the safety and supervision of the participants and following all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations.
- Assist with the development, implementation, supervision and evaluation of the daily activities, to ensure a successful program.
- Assist with the proper handling and care of the equipment, supplies and facilities utilized, and reporting damages or losses to the Camp Coordinator.
- Be a resource to your fellow leaders in regards to adaptive programming requirements to better meet the needs of campers with both identified and unidentified behaviours and/or diagnosed campers who require specialized programming.
- Ensures the completion and submission of the required administrative forms (i.e. accident forms, supply requests, special event forms, etc.).
- Staff will be required to participate in daily activities with the campers (which may including swimming).
- Evaluate the overall success of the program; submit reports and feedback to the Summer Camp Coordinator.
- Attend all Summer Staff Training sessions and scheduled staff meetings.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TRAINING/SKILLS : - Post-secondary student or graduate, studying in a child-related field of study with a focus on child behaviour management techniques.
- Hold a current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
- Hold the High Five - Healthy Child Development certification.
- Valid ‘G’ Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle is required for some positions.
WORK EXPERIENCE: - Minimum of two (2) years/seasons of experience working with children as a Camp Leader or equivalent experience working with children in a recreational or teaching setting.
- Experience with program/lesson planning, design, development, and implementation of children’s age-appropriate activities.
- Supervisory experience would be an asset.
