The Alcohol, Gaming, Fuel and Tobacco (AGFT) Division of Service Nova Scotia is the regulatory body charged with administering Part II of the Gaming Control Act, parts of the Liquor Control Act, and the Theatres and Amusements Act. The AGFT issues approximately 13,000 licenses annually, average of 8 licenses per day and provides in counter service to approximately 3100 annually. Service standards dictate that licenses and registrations be processed within of 10 days.

About Our Opportunity

Under the General supervision of the Senior Licensing Officer, the Licensing and Registration Support Clerk may assist the Licensing and/or Registration Officer(s) with data entry of licensing and registration information including to the issuance of gaming permits and Special Occasion Liquor Licenses One’s and Two’s. The position is responsible for the verification and processing of large volumes of reports for bingo, ticket and games of chance. This would include date and month as well as payments made. The incumbent verifies that all information is correct and as part of the process any discrepancies or omissions must be documented. The position is also responsible for ensuring all hardcopy files for Licensing and Registration are maintained.

Familiarity with AMANDA is required. The position is required to do updates for payments, invoices, Licenses and registration information in AMANDA. The Licensing and Registration Support Clerk will work directly with licensees to address outstanding items such as reporting fees, reports, invoices or other inaccuracies in reports. They are also responsible to ensure all communication with Licensees is documented in AMANDA and to respond to any inquires from licensees on accounts. Work also with the Senior Auditor in the collection of outstanding accounts or NSF cheques.

As the Licensing & Registration Support Clerk, you will be responsible in supporting the Licensing and Registration Officers in the licensing and registration approval processes. You will coordinate, process, verify and analyze bingo, ticket and games of chance reports and payments submitted by licensees and update all information in Amanda, including the invoicing and fees to casino gaming suppliers. Responsible for the updates to records and licensee data as required. Provide customer service to the users of the division.

Primary Accountabilities

Qualifications and Experience

You possess four (4) years of related experience. An equivalent combination of training and relevant experience may be acceptable. You have the ability to communicate effectively and use sound judgement when dealing with the public, licensees, and other government departments. We require you to be proficient in file management, data input, word processing and PC computer use. You can work independently and organize your schedule and possess excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with the public, while working in a team environment.

Salary Range: $1,684.00 - $1,884.17 Bi-Weekly
