Maternity Leave Teaching Position

Job description

Selkirk Montessori is seeking an educator to undertake a one-year maternity leave in one of their Montessori Elementary 6-12 classrooms.

This is a full-time position with one other partner guide in a thriving Montessori environment. We are a community of diverse and enthusiastic learners, both students and on staff. We believe in community, teamwork, and bringing joy and interest to our learning.

We are accepting applications from candidates with the following:

Education:

• Bachelor of Education or other 4-year degree (applicable for BC Teaching Certification)
• Montessori age 6-12 training an asset
• Flexibility, expertise, and creativity when teaching alongside colleagues

Responsibilities:

• Engagement with students of various learning levels and capabilities
• Positive behaviour management
• Tracking of lessons, independence, and skills in Transparent Classroom
• Parent communication
• Upkeep of the Prepared Environment
• Report card writing

Other skills and qualities:

• excellent communication skills and respectful rapport
• ability to bring interest to life in the school environment
• a joy for working with young children of all different experiences and abilities
• · very strong organizational skills

Our students have the advantage of a well-rounded program right from age three. They have, generally, developed a love of learning. Candidates would appreciate the flexibility and challenges of collaborative teacher team to explore rich academic content and broad opportunities for creative studies.
