Job Title: Manager, Finance
About OmniaBio:
OmniaBio Inc. is a subsidiary of Toronto-based CCRM ( ccrm.ca ), a leader in developing and commercializing regenerative medicine-based technologies and cell and gene therapies. OmniaBio’s facility will be Canada’s first commercial-scale contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) dedicated to cell and gene therapies and is expected to be the largest facility of its kind in Canada.
Based at McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton, Ontario, OmniaBio will anchor a biomanufacturing centre of excellence and open in three phases between 2024 and 2026. OmniaBio has built a substantial team and continues to grow to prepare for this expansion. Benefitting from CCRM’s existing expertise and business practices, OmniaBio currently has established process and analytical development teams and contract manufacturing capabilities. Role Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Manager, Finance, will ensure effective delivery of high-quality financial support and information to senior management to enable informed decision making that will ultimately improve performance, as well as enhance and develop business strategy and planning. This role will enable accurate business management, tracking, analysis, and management reporting to both internal and external stakeholders. Good governance is a key pillar of OmniaBio; this position involves maintaining an effective internal control environment and establishing appropriate policies and procedures. The successful candidate will join a talented team helping to shape the future by commercializing life-saving advances in cell and gene therapy, and regenerative medicine.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares monthly and quarterly business unit, entity-level, and consolidated financial reports, including management discussion and analysis.
- Leads the development of project-level budgets and forecasts for multiple business functions and units.
- Acts as a key service provider to business units and the functional teams/leaders in support of their mandates. Supports business decision-making through consultations with functional leaders concerning operational or service objectives impacted by changes in OmniaBio’s annual objectives and budgetary requirements.
- Leads the development of business intelligence strategies and technology for the monthly financial reports, at the business unit and project level, with insightful analysis for OmniaBio’s executives, senior management, and industry partners within defined reporting timelines, liaising with key stakeholders for input as necessary.
- Reviews corporate policies, program guidelines, manuals, procedures, forms and reports to develop the assessment of data and information flow. Contributes to the development of tools, standards and guidelines to support the business life cycle, including customer acquisition, purchasing, inventory management, financial data management, invoicing, and revenue collection processes.
- Makes recommendations regarding the design, needs assessment and implementation of technological improvements, including software applications, to improve upon financial reporting and internal control environment.
- Provides decision analysis support, such as business case analysis, the drafting of contract terms, cost estimates and customer-level reporting.
- Defines and develops financial analysis, key metrics, financial insight and performance reporting to support operations in various business units.
- Refines processes around the month-end analytics reporting cycle to ensure timely provision to business unit leaders and executive management.
- Liaises with funding providers and collaborators/partners regarding funding agreements, reporting requirements and performance deliverables.
- Provides business information to external funding providers and collaborators/partners.
- Engages cross-functional leaders in establishing business processes and project management. Advises and recommends changes to existing financial systems to support management reporting requirements from external stakeholders, as needed.
- Provides guidance and supervision to Finance staff to maintain efficient business unit operations and finance functions. Performs employee performance reviews and supports their career development.
- Provides support to the annual financial statement audit, or other assurance engagements, as necessary.
- Other responsibilities, as required.
Qualifications:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 5+ years’ experience as a finance manager.
- Experience in data management.
- 5+ years’ experience using a systems applications and products software (SAP) or another similar enterprise resource planning system.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
