HR Business Partner (Maternity Leave 12-18 Month Contract)

Job description
Description:s/career pathing/title alignment for respective areas in collaboration with HR Manager
- Administer leaves of absences which include notifying applicable vendors and submitting short term and long-term disability claims
- Conduct benefit orientations for new employees; respond to employee questions and concerns and provide information to clarify policies and procedures
- Coordinate closely with Payroll and other HR team members on any changes that may affect employee pay
- Experience discussions with departing employees
- Identify and communicate possible improvements in the work process for customers and peers, recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department
- Cross-trained to input employee information into HRIS system for new hires, benefit enrollments, terminations, and updates for employees
- Cross-trained to conduct new hire orientation
- Providing effective guidance to employees in relation to absence and health issues, conduct, grievance matters, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters
- Create procedures and processes to evolve the HR department as we scale and grow
- Respond to general employee inquiries and liaise with other business lines, as required to support inquiries
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with specialization in Human Resources or equivalent HR/business experience
- CHRP designation is an asset
- 4+ years of experience as a human resource professional, preferably in a distribution environment
- Ability to build effective relationships at all levels in the organization
- Self-directed and motivated leader who promotes best practice and leads by example
- Strong command over HR management software such as applicant tracking systems, HRIS and compensation modules
- Strong communication, analytical and problem solving ability
- Proficient in MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Knowledge in employment legislation including employment standards, privacy, and human rights
