Fred Douglas Lodge is seeking a term Licensed Practical Nurse for a Maternity Leave.
Under the leadership of the Director of Care, the LPN ensures the provision of coordination of all aspects of nursing care to our residents. As an active member of a multidisciplinary team, you will possess excellent interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communication skills. Rate of pay as per the current MNU collective agreement.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved Practical Nursing School Program and hold a current Manitoba License
- Previous experience in a Long Term Care facility is preferred
- Experience in Psycho-geratic experience preferred
- Works well independently
- Current Criminal Record and Adult Abuse Registry checks
Key Responsibilities:
5.1 Nursing Unit:
- Provision and coordination of all aspects of nursing care. May act as facility charge nurse in the absence of a registered nurse in the building.
- Delegation, direction, supervision and evaluation related to care provided by Health Care Aides.
- Complete admission and ongoing assessments of residents.
- Accurate, informative and ongoing documentation related to resident care and condition.
- Ongoing documentation and communication related to care planning.
- Participation in care conferences, drug reviews and physicians’ rounds.
- Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions.
- Identifies own limitations related to competencies and seeks direction and/or consultation when necessary.
- Orientation of new employees as required.
- Supervises students as required.
- Familiar with responsibilities related to fire, safety and emergency procedures.
- Maintaining ongoing professional development.
5.2 Professional Development:
- Engages in self-performance appraisal regularly, identifying areas of strength as well as areas for professional practice/development.
- Maintains necessary clinical skills through continuing education and direct clinical practice
- Maintains current licensure
- Participates in FDL in-services and staff meetings
Rate of Pay: As per the current M.N.U. Collective Agreement. Job description available on request.
Job Type : Term position for maternity leave. ASAP to October 8, 2025. As this a term for maternity leave of absence the position may expire sooner than indicated, subject to a minimum notice of two (2) weeks or one pay period, whichever is longer.
