Job description
Mon Pitou Bistro & Bakery is hiring a Kitchen Assistant to join our team in Vancouver. This is a mixed-role that involves baking and production work, dishwashing and overall kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment. This is an afternoon/evening position.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, bake and cook menu items as directed
- Assemble sandwiches for daily sales
- Set up station before or after service
- Assist with the daily brunch service and catering orders
- Prepare meals and meal kits (vacuum seal, labelling, packaging)
- Follow recipes and presentation specifications
- Prepare products of the retail program
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and properly
- Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes such as deep cleaning duties
- Assist with dishwashing
- Deep clean the kitchen area to maintain a hygienic work environment
- Receive orders through thorough inspection and proper storage
- Work independently with or without supervision
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Able to work in the afternoon/evening
- Must be able to work at least 2 days/week
- 1 year of prep cook experience mandatory
- Pastry and baking experience is an asset
- FoodSafe level 1 certification required
- Familiar with kitchen equipment usage
- Attentive to detail and quality while multitasking
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Reliable, punctual and independent
- Personable and level-headed
- Collaborative, dependable and self-motivated
- Holds a work permit in Canada
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
