The Childcare Worker is responsible for assisting shelter clients with their childcare needs while they are in programming or attending appointments; this is done through planning and implementing activities and lesson plans that are age-appropriate and stimulate the childs intellectual, physical, and emotional growth.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, prepares, and provides programming materials and activities for children in care that:
Is appropriate to the age, developmental level, and interests of the children;
Contains a balance of activities to enhance the childrens cognitive, fine motor, gross motor, creative, science, sensory, social, and emotional development;
Ensures children are learning positive behaviours and are provided with guidance or approved discipline, as needed;
Creates a positive atmosphere through fair, progressive, and consistent expectations;
Washes and disinfects all toys and surfaces in the playroom at least once per week in order to minimize the spread of disease/germs.
Knows where each child in care is at all times, ensuring that children in care are never left unsupervised.
Other work-related duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent;
MUST possess a Valid Saskatchewan Driver's License;
MUST be able to provide a clean Vulnerable Sector Check;
Ability to speak Cree and/or Dene is considered an asset;
Knowledge surrounding how witnessing domestic violence can affect children
An understanding of Northern Saskatchewan and the clientele we serve.
