Job Description

Physician Assistants (PAs) are academically and clinically educated medical generalists who practice medicine within a formalized relationship with a physician. Regulated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS), PAs collect and interpret medical information, make appropriate clinical decisions and carry out diagnostic and therapeutic interventions within a formalized Physician/PA relationship agreement approved by the CPSS.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Certified with the Canadian Association of Physicians Assistants
• Current ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification, is an asset
• Current ATLS Certification (Advanced Trauma Life Support) Certification, is an asset
• Current PALS Certification (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Certification, is an asset
• Maintain membership in good standing on the SHA Practitioner Staff
• Membership and Licensure in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) as a Physician Assistant
• Successful Completion of a recognized accredited Physician Assistant educational Program Bachelor of Health Sciences (Physician Assistant)
• Valid Driver's License

Experience
Clinical experience working as a PA in related clinical field is an asset

Additional Information

This position is in the Surgical Unit and may provide services within the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital including but not limited to ER, Day Surgery, OR, PACU and ICU. Standby may be required. Shifts (days, evenings, nights) including actual hours, date of commencement and temporary end dates are for informational purpose only and may be subject to change. The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA. A vulnerable sector check (VSC) is required for individuals providing patient/resident/client care to vulnerable persons.
