Job description

Job Summary:
The role of the OPDL Head Coach is responsible for providing leadership and overseeing development for a NIAGARA FC OPDL team. In addition to technical responsibilities, it will also involve administrative duties.

Reporting to: Director of High Performance/Technical Lead and Executive Director of OPDL

Time Required: Part time.
• Approx. 6 hrs of training/prep time.
• 3 hrs per game. (weekends/weeknights)
• Excludes any travel.


Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver age appropriate Technical and Tactical Coaching program (3 training
sessions per week, and 1 - 2 games per week during the season)
• Coach and travel with the team to all competitions.
• Establish a periodized session plan aligned with the Technical Direction of the Club and
keeping with OPDL requirements.
• Be well versed and comprehend the most recent rules, procedures, and fines from the
OPDL Operations Manual and Game Day Procedures.
• Provide direction and leadership for all staff Coaches and players.
• Be an exemplary role model and representative for the players and the Club.
• Be responsible for the safety and well being of all players under your care.
• Be responsible for the behaviour of your bench staff, players, and parents at all
events/games.
• Prepare player evaluations as requested by Ontario Soccer (2 per season)
• Conduct Individual Development Plan Player Meetings (2 per season)
• Utilize coaching resources and software (ACS) to plan and manage training sessions and
game play.
• Keep Coaching courses up to date, attend mandatory webinars, and all Coach meetings.
• Participate and support all NFSC – NIAGARA FC Club Programs, Events/Fundraisers,
Wellness meetings, and Community Events.
• Promote and support, and have a positive attitude towards the NFSC – NIAGARA FC
Brand.

• Have knowledge of, support, positive attitude towards, and promote Canada Soccer’s
Long-Term Player Development, commitment to holistic player development, Ontario
Soccer and the OPDL program.


Requirements:
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• A valid Respect in Soccer certification.
• OPDL Head Coaches must hold a minimum qualification of the Canada Soccer Youth
Licence (or already be enrolled in the course and complete the OPDL Coach
Development Program on an annual basis).
• Experience working with competitive/high performance players.
• Valid driver’s licence and accessibility to a vehicle.
• A clear Canadian Police Information Check (CPIC)
• Valid standard First Aid with CPR & AED – Level C (or in the process of obtaining)
• Shall be a non-parent Coach.

• Exceptional Game Day behaviours
• Able to communicate effectively, professionally, and positively with Technical Lead and Staff, OPDL Executive Director and Staff, Assistants and Bench staff, Players, Match Officials, Parents, and Venue Coordinators.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to build and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with all stakeholders and have great team management skills.
• Understand the developmental phases of individual youth players and optimal training and performance standards.
• Good computer skills with the ability to produce session plans and enter data when required.
