Job Description
We are looking for a Powertrain Performance Simulation Engineer to join us! In this role, you will be instrumental in guiding our ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) design teams towards enhancing engine performance. By integrating with the development team, your expertise in utilizing advanced simulation tools will play a crucial role in analyzing and refining engine designs and characteristics to meet and surpass performance objectives.
Missions:
- Serve as a technical guide for ICE design teams, focusing on engine performance improvements and being a core part of the development process.
- Use commercial and/or internal tools to evaluate engine designs, ensuring they align with functional objectives through in-depth analysis of design characteristics.
- Optimize ICE performance by refining models to enhance inlet, outlet, and combustion properties, aiming to exceed performance targets.
- Develop 0D/1D models based on CAD designs and functional requirements, covering various aspects of engine performance including input/output characteristics and combustion properties.
- Conduct simulations of thermal and lubrication dynamics within ICE, contributing to the overall efficiency and performance of the engine.
- Innovate in engine performance and efficiency solutions, transitioning detailed models to faster-running equivalents for comprehensive system simulations.
- Analyze simulation outcomes, presenting findings to stakeholders such as chief engineers and powertrain management through both oral presentations and written reports.
- Lead training sessions for team members in powertrain performance modeling, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Author and maintain Standard Operating Procedure documentation, establishing best practices in powertrain performance simulation and analysis.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, with a specialization in computational fluid dynamics, combustion, or heat transfer, providing a strong foundation for advanced engine simulation.
- Deep understanding of automotive engines, transmissions, or drivetrains, with a focus on the intricacies of their design and functionality.
- Demonstrated experience in powertrain virtual analysis using industry-standard software such as AVL Excite or Gamma Technologies GT-Suite, showcasing a proficiency in leveraging these tools to drive performance enhancements.
