As the member of the Smart Meter Operations Centre (SMOC) Team you will join a dynamic group of responsive professionals responsible for maintaining this infrastructure and bringing innovative solutions to Nova Scotia Power. This important role exists within the Customer & Grid Intelligence team of Nova Scotia Power.
As the AMI Solution Specialist, Smart Meter Operations Centre you will be accountable to ensure smart meter data and AMI functionality are meeting business objectives. You will have the opportunity to:
- Identify, analyze, recommend, and implement new value opportunities through AMI technology.
- Configure and enhance AMI systems (Oracle Meter Data Management, Itron Head End System and Itron Smart Meters).
- Triage complex techno-functional issues in AMI tools and processes using large datasets and critical thinking.
- Support a high performing and data-driven team with day-to-day transaction processing and data quality management.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with other business units such as Customer Care, Billing Services, Meter Field Services, and IT, as well as with vendors & service providers supporting the Smart Meter Operating Centre.
- Share expert level knowledg e with the Smart Meter Operations Centre and associated business workgroups to maintain and advance key business functions such as billing services and outage restoration management.
- Develop and implement new processes and initiate continuous improvement opportunities on existing processes to increase team effectiveness.
- Engage in industry events and working groups to become an expert in AMI capabilities and new value opportunities. This includes participation in application user groups, conversations with peer utilities, and other information gathering activities.

- Degree or Diploma in Engineering/Computer Science/Informatics.
- 3 years' experience in a technical solutions role supporting key business functions.
- Experience navigating and analyzing large data sets with SQL.
- Experience on projects including requirements gathering/documentation, test planning/execution, and schedule/risk management.
- Curiosity and critical thinking mindset to support problem solving, troubleshooting, and innovation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts and options analysis/recommendations to a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt as needed to changing priorities.
- Proven customer service skills.
- Experience in meter technologies and utility operations is considered an asset.
- Experience with data visualization tools (ex., Tableau, Power BI) is considered an asset.
