Job description

This is a great new role if you are carving out your accounting career - no professional experience is required, instead you will be a recent accounting graduate (or a graduate from a similar discipline), perhaps with coop, part-time, or internship experience from during your studies.

You will be joining the well-established, stable, and highly successful TSX-listed business, Premium Brands, a company that boasts a team-focused and tight-knit corporate culture.

The focus of your role will be accounts payable, but through time, you will progressively support wider full accounting activities as you develop your corporate accounting career.

Who - the Company:

Headquartered in Richmond, Premium Brands is a TSX listed company with over 100 years of history.  The organization owns a diverse portfolio of dozens of specialist food manufacturing and distribution businesses across Canada and the US.

What - the Role:

You will be responsible for supporting accounts payable and assisting in the full cycle-accounting process, including: 

• Supporting vendors and teammates with excellent customer service regarding accounts payable related queries
• Verifying, processing and paying vendor invoices while adhering to internal controls and vendor terms
• Routing invoices for approval and working closely with other departments to maintain smooth process with accurate tracking, ensuring invoices are coded with high level of precision
• Processing weekly payments (cheque, EFT, and other manual payments) and tracking voids, refunds, and other account irregularities 
• Assisting with Corporate’s intercompany process related to cost reimbursements and allocations
• Assisting in the full-cycle accounting process including the preparation of monthly journal entries and GL reconciliations 

 

Who - the Candidate:

You will be someone who enjoys working in a work-paced environment and is able to quickly adapt to changing priorities. 

A university degree is required (related to accounting), as is Canadian citizenship, Permanent Residence, or an Open Work Permit.

Where:

Shellbridge Way, Richmond, British Columbia V6X 3C6. The office is most accessible by bus if taking public transit, and there is parking on site for those driving.  This is a full-time, office-based role with occasional work from home.

How Much:

Base salary of between $45,000-$50,000, and other details include extended health benefits from day 1 (medical and dental), full study support for the CPA.
