The incumbent will be responsible for the effective operation of the Health Equipment Programs in Atlantic Canada. This includes but not limited to, the ongoing implementation, assessment and evaluation of the programs. The incumbent works to ensure that Health Equipment Loan Programs are delivered in a safe and effective manner within Atlantic Canada.
In this role, you will:
Responsibility 1 - Lead the ongoing development, implementation, assessment and evaluation of the Health Equipment Programs within Atlantic Canada.
- Implement and maintain effective and efficient operational procedures, quality assurance standards, recall procedures, reporting systems and controls, to ensure the proper and consistent delivery of health equipment within the CRC policies/SOPs and funder contractual agreements.
- Liaise with prescribing health professionals, clients, equipment suppliers and funder personnel.
- Ensure reporting timelines, KPIs and documentation requirements are met.
- Respond to incoming concerns from referral sources, clients, or funder regarding health equipment waiting lists, repairs of health equipment, time delays, etc.
- Implement and monitor policies, processes, procedures, and tools to streamline service delivery & monitor effectiveness.
Responsibility 2 - Supervise human resources within established Society, provincial and contracted requirements to achieve program outcomes with the most efficient and effective use of employee skills.
- Direct and monitor the delivery of HELP programs as well as the operation of Service Centres in a manner consistent with established policies and procedures, across the Atlantic.
- Provide supervision and direction to the various program supervisors and Occupational Therapists within Atlantic Canada.
- Provide coaching and feedback in accordance with the performance management process and career development framework.
- In collaboration with People Services, address and resolve identified conflict and/or performance issues and take corrective action as applicable.
- Identify and facilitate ongoing education requirements for the Health Equipment Program to meet the organization's quality and safety standards.
- Ensure all near-misses and incidents are promptly and accurately reported to the Supervisor or designate.
- As applicable, completes safety audits and ensures that corrective action plans are completed for identified safety concerns and/or hazards.
Responsibility 3 - Continuous Quality Improvement & Risk Assessment
- Review and evaluate standards of practice, procedures, and protocols relating to personnel education, professional development, and organizational processes.
- Support the development and implementation of quality improvement measurements and audits proactively promote the implementation of evidence-based best practices and resolve deficiencies.
- Provide in services to employees and volunteers in quality improvement methodology and accreditation processes.
- Work with the Director, HELP within Atlantic Canada to achieve and integrate continuous quality improvement plans.
What we are looking for:
- The minimum qualifications for this position are a Baccalaureate Degree in a health-related field.
- Clinical experience post graduation is a strong asset.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, in English is essential and French is a strong asset.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities, combined with sound supervisory skills, are essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work well with clients, employees and Health Care professionals.
- Experience in the health equipment field is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated computer skills are required and experience in inventory control.
- Previous WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety training is considered an asset.
Working conditions:
- The majority of the work is performed in an environment which is mostly clean and comfortable.
- Travel within Atlantic Canada is a requirement.
- A valid driver's license is required with a willingness to travel within the province.
- A satisfactory driver's abstract is required.
