Job description


The Saskatoon Housing Authority current has an employment opportunity for a Community Outreach Consultant.  This is a permanent full time position.  The successful candidate must create stability & successful tenancies for at-risk tenants through pre-emptive interventions during challenging tenancies, by effectively identifying needs, coaching, counselling & removing barriers that enable community integration and that foster & maintain independence.

Some Key Responsibilities:
. Identify tenant issues/behaviors, examine causes impacting successful tenancy
. plan development, facilitate process, monitor progress, re-adjust plans and act as liaison between tenant and service providers.
. advocate on behalf of at-risk tenants for access to social & financial assistance programs,
. attend case meetings, hearings & if required, appointments
. encourage support & build confidence for at-risk tenants to speak for themselves
. provide emotional support (listening, coaching, asking, counselling)
. with PCS Manager, develop effective learning & communication strategies.
. Act as part of a support team to provide emergency case management to those in crisis or emergent situations.
. Develop criteria for access to emergency funding, develop & manage budget & approve allocations.
