Job description
This is a contract position for a Business Analyst for our public sector client.
Work location: North York
Duration: Twelve Months
7.25 hours/day
This is a Hybrid role that requires the candidate to be onsite 2-3 days of the week (This is a mandatory requirement of the role and is non-negotiable outside of exceptional circumstances.)

Responsibilities
Provide systems analysis and design expertise in the development and maintenance of the Ministry application systems
Analyze user requirements, generation of prototypes for user consultation and the design, testing, documentation, implementation and maintenance of applications
Coordinate analyses, develops, and implements solutions for complex problems
Consult with clients on the changes/modifications, recommend and develop training plans, and monitor operational performance
Plan application development activities, provide direction, guidance and technical support to programming staff and
train junior team members
Lead research activities that explore problems and opportunities for improvements, identify scope and priorities , and
gather sufficient data, and guide the following steps
Create user journeys, personas, process flow diagrams, surveys, and other appropriate artifacts to facilitate discussion and engagements
Demonstrate and present the results of user research for executives
Support business analysis tasks for several applications, including MyBenefits, SADA, EST, and others
Qualifications
- Advanced technical knowledge of large hardware and software operations and utilities, productivity tools, client server architecture, mini-computer, PC technologies, online processing systems, web-based technologies, Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and database management systems
- Knowledge of rules-based engines based in COTS applications like CĂșram
- Knowledge of front end, web-based technologies and data-mining/reporting-based COTS tools encompassing feasibility studies, requirements definition, analysis, prototyping, system design, implementation, testing and maintenance
- Knowledge of design methodologies in Internet-based and/or distributed environments
- Knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle Methodologies, familiarity with ITIL Processes for Change/Release Management, use of object oriented and/or 3GL development tools, relational and hierarchical data base technologies, use of information retrieval packages using SQL and other query languages, one or more telecommunications protocol
