Reporting to the Manager, Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, the Student Liaison is responsible for This role supports students by providing information about their rights and responsibilities, explaining relevant policies and procedures, receiving, reviewing, and investigating student complaints, referring students to appropriate supports, meets with students, updates the departmental website, participates in webinars, maintains records, and generates statistics as required. Contributes to a working environment where all team members can be their best selves, grow and thrive, to support our mission of championing student success.
- Act as a direct contact with students reaching out to the office for information, advice, and support.
- Participate in occasional Student Success, Rights and Responsibilities, or other webinars and symposiums as necessary.
- Instruct (or assist with the instruction of) students in the basics of interpersonal conflict resolution, student conduct, and other various policies.
- Liaise with students wishing to initiate an appeal or complaint, receive formal appeal or complaint letters and associated evidence, interview appropriate individuals, ascertain relevant policies and procedures, take other investigative steps as necessary, and thoroughly summarize the findings.

- Receive formal charges of offenses involving students under Student Code of Conduct; Prevention of Sexual Violence policy; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policy; Harassment and Discrimination policy; and other relevant policies.
- Advise complainants and / or respondents of their rights and responsibilities.
- Facilitate an informal resolution where the parties are amenable, and the circumstances of the alleged offense do not warrant a formal response and potential sanctions.
- Gather material and evidence required to allow decision-maker to render a decision about the charges (e.g., Manager, Student Rights and Responsibilities, Student Conduct Committee).
- Prepare, review, distribute, maintain agendas, minutes and other documentation as required.
- Arrange for the updating of the Student Rights and Responsibilities website.
- Generate recurrent or ad hoc statistical reports involving departmental activity.
- Contribute to a positive corporate culture that supports our core values.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Student support in a post-secondary education environment, preferably in the context of informal or formal conflict resolution / complaint management, incident investigation, and regularly liaising with students, including those in distress.
- Understanding of and ability to apply multiple policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with post-secondary education, particularly with respect to policies and procedures related to student rights and responsibilities.
- Ability to work in a collegial environment and to collaborate with senior staff and academic administrators.
- Superior written and oral communication ability sufficient to organize and present workshops and webinars related to students’ rights and responsibilities

Salary Range for this role $55,000 - $70,000.
