Role Responsibilities

Transportation Management Centre Officers (TMCO) ensure that information, which is collected from multiple sources, is verified to be accurate, then analyzed, filtered where appropriate, and then disseminated in a timely manner on all of the 511 Alberta platforms. TMCO’s work within the Transportation Management Centre (TMC). The TMC serves as the hub of the highway management system. It is where data about the highway system is collected and processed, fused with other operational control data, and synthesized to produce meaningful information, which in turn, is used to support existing and future Ministry of Transportation Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) endeavors.


Responsibilities Include:

Ensure that the information on all of the 511 Alberta platforms (website, app, phone and social media) is accurate and current

Prioritize and distribute reliable information to the public and interested parties to support safety and efficiency on the highway network

Liaise with other Transportation sections, ministries and levels of government

Troubleshoot, maintenance, quality assurance and testing of the 511 Alberta website and applications

Provide training and support to person submitting information to the 511 Alberta platforms

Ensure comprehensive knowledge of 511 Alberta policies and procedures to guarantee accurate and efficient response to events

Qualifications

Required:
Two-year diploma in a related field (Dispatch, Emergency Management, First Responder) no experience required; or equivalent as described below

Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Successful candidate must also have:
Intermediate to Advanced computer skills
Accurate and speedy data entry skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Must be able to work weekends, evenings, overnight and holidays

Assets:
Call centre experience
Emergency operations experience

Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week
Rotating Shifts:
6:45 AM – 3:28 PM
2:45 PM – 11:28 PM
10:45 PM – 7:28 AM

Location: Edmonton – On-Site
