We currently have an opening for a full-time permanent Component Shop Technician, based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.
Reporting to the Shops Manager, the Component Shop Technician is responsible for the overhaul and repair of aircraft components, NDT inspections, tool calibration, battery maintenance and supporting the fleet as required. This position will primarily be working in the Component Shop but may require maintenance on the aircraft or in the field.
In this role your duties will include the following:
- Overhaul, repair, inspection, and servicing of aircraft components;
- Inspection, testing and calibration of tooling and instruments;
- NDT inspections on a variety of aeronautical products;
- Recertification and inspection of avionics components and equipment in a shop environment;
- Lead Acid and NiCad battery maintenance;
- Demonstrate safe working practices and techniques. Ensure all measures are taken for a safe work environment;
- Work within a team environment, assisting fellow teammates in the performance of their duties in a professional and courteous manner;
- Fostering a strong working relationship with teammates and customers;
- Perform all duties in accordance with Conair’s Policies and Procedures and applicable regulations;
- Complete assigned tasks and related paperwork in a timely and accurate manner;
- Maintain currency as applicable to Conair Memos, Maintenance Bulletins, and notices;
- Knowledge of CARs as related to aircraft maintenance;
- Perform other duties as required.
We are looking for someone who is :
- Mechanically inclined;
- Maintains a high-quality standard and attention to detail in all aspects of their job;
- Must be skilled in using precision measuring equipment;
- Skilled in working effectively with tools;
- Skilled in using test equipment and/or bench test equipment for performance checks;
- Able to analyze drawings and technical literature;
- Knowledgeable of all safety rules governing the work performed;
- Must have an intrinsic desire to continuously improve safety;
- Must maintain the requirements for a safe fit test of their respirator;
- Able to communicate accurately and effectively with Fleet Managers, Lead Hands, and customers;
- Able to react quickly and efficiently to production needs and make process decisions to troubleshoot problems; be self-motivated;
- Must have an intense desire to meet Conair’s goals and objectives while being a professional team player;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills;
- Able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
Training/Education:
- AME license is an asset;
- Electrical or Avionics background is an asset;
- Must have mechanical experience;
- Successful completion of an aviation approved trade school;
- NDT experience an asset;
- Proficiency in Microsoft office products and computer skills.
